Day by day, the people of Malaysia are confronted with examples that Ketuanan Melayu and Najib intended vote winning slogan cannot coexist. 1 Malaysia is and will always be a white wash to dupe non Malays into thinking that all races are included. George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” would resonate perfectly with Najib’s 1Malaysia. The ruling parties past and present members don’t have the equanimity to deal will all of us fairly and that’s a fact. There is no sign that the two tier citizenship with multi tiered laws and different levels of enforcement according to race and religion will give way to becoming a single “rakyat” of Malaysia. Yet we endure, because we have been conditioned and regularly told to “accept” our inferior position as a downgraded citizen.
It doesn’t matter how much you contribute, what you sacrifice, how loyal you are or how much you love Malaysia you will always be reminded that this Tanah Melayu and a non melayu cannot claim complete citizenship. This is a cruelty that is systematically forced down our throats regularly. To wake up every morning and to know that UMNO and its followers will deny you this country as truly home is heart wrenching.
To use every available method, the constitution, race, religion, the name Tanah Melayu and the Sultans to justify that non Malays born and bred here cannot have equal status is woebegone. That is the highhanded example, the people of Klang saw, when Christmas posters that were displayed on rented billboards got covered over by Selangor flags. The message is clear “We don’t want your posters and having covered it with the Selangor flag you cannot do a thing about it. Because if you do, you will incur the wrath of the Sultan.” It didn’t matter to them, that it was just a Christmas message from M. Manoharan to the Christians in his constituency.
